Course Marshal for Wilmington Grand Prix bike race

The Course Marshal is the key volunteer for cycling races.Their duty is to keep people from crossing the street while the cyclists are approaching. Course Marshals are assigned to intersections and are to keep an eye out for approaching riders. Once a rider is in sight, the Course Marshal will ask anyone that may want to cross the street to wait until the road is clear.

All Course Marshals are assigned orange safety vests and a whistle, as well as a Volunteer t-shirt for the event and breakfast or lunch- depending on the time of day. Comfortable shoes are encouraged, since the volunteer will be standing for the entire time.

Races are held rain or shine, so keep that in mind. You may need raingear and an umbrella. Or you may need sunscreen!
