Adult Literacy Tutor

Our students need tutors who can:
	* Provide encouragement & support
	* Meet regularly and punctually
	* Prepare individualized or group lessons
	* Involve students in decision-making
	* Keep records of student progress
	* Send reports to the Main Office

And have the following qualities:
	* Dependable
	* Interested in other people
	* Able to maintain confidentiality
	* Flexible
	* Friendly
	* Patient
	* Optimistic

One-to-one tutoring occurs in libraries, churches or other people-friendly places in the community.  Volunteers and students meet twice weekly for 1.5 to 2 hours.  Lessons are separated by at least one day.  Also, small-group ESL classes are held in Bear, New Castle, and Middletown areas.

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one year of service after training.  Certain expenses (e.g. mileage) may be tax deductible.  Experience in education is a plus.
