Reading Assist Institute tutors work directly inside the schools with students with reading difficulties, usually in 1st through 3rd grades. We work on the “mechanics of reading,” with students who struggle to connect letters and their related sounds, which impairs their ability to ‘decode” words and read fluently. Reading difficulties like these affect about 20 percent of all students in any classroom.

For the past 25 years, tutors from RAI have used our reading intervention program in local schools. More than 84% of 2nd graders increase their fluency rate after going through our program, helping them close the reading achievement gap. The only thing that keeps us from turning more kids into confident readers … is how many tutors we can place in schools. That’s where you come in. You can make a real difference in the life of a struggling reader. Learn more about how to join the Reading Assist Reading Corps.
